ASCAP Annual We Write the Songs Live performance Attracts Jam & Lewis, Pasek & Paul, Matthew West & Extra

On Wednesday (Sept. 21), members of ASCAP turned out for the group’s twelfth annual We Write the Songs live performance on the Coolidge Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
As in earlier years, the live performance was held to have a good time presents from The ASCAP Basis to the Library of Congress “of the original manuscripts, lead sheets, lyrics sheets, photos and letters of some of America’s greatest creators of words and music,” in line with a press launch.
Co-hosted by The Library of Congress, Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden and The ASCAP Basis president Paul Williams, the evening featured performances by songwriters and producers performing songs they wrote or co-wrote. They included Jermaine Dupri, performing “Confessions/Confessions Part II” (Usher) and “We Belong Together” (Mariah Carey); Madison Love, performing “Kings & Queens” (Ava Max) and “Turbulence” (P!nk)”; Pasek & Paul, performing “Waving Through a Window” (from Pricey Evan Hansen) and “This is Me” (The Biggest Showman); Matthew West, performing “My Jesus” (Anne Wilson) and “Truth Be Told”; and shutting act Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, performing “Human” (The Human League) and “Miss You Much” (Janet Jackson).
The evening’s performers have been launched by members of Congress from each side of the aisle, together with Rep. Mark Inexperienced (R-TN), who launched West; Rep.
